Soft Tissue Grafts
Gum recession results in the exposure of tooth roots. Soft tissue grafts can be used to cover roots or develop gum tissue in areas of recession. Gum tissue is taken from the roof of your mouth or another donor source to cover the exposed root. This can be done for one tooth or several teeth. A soft tissue graft will eliminate further recession and bone loss while covering exposed roots.

Non-Surgical & Surgical Treatment of Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease is a chronic bacterial infection that affects the gums and bone surrounding the teeth. The gums separate from the teeth forming pockets, which become a haven for the disease-causing bacteria. As the disease progresses, pockets deepen and bone loss worsens. If left untreated, it will result in tooth loss. This disease may be treated non-surgically or surgically through our dental service.

Non-surgical treatment involves scaling and root planning of the periodontal pockets (deep cleaning) in which the roots of the teeth are cleaned free of plaque and tartar. Non-surgical therapy has its limitations, and when it does not achieve the desired effect, surgical therapy may be warranted. Surgical treatment may involve pocket depth reduction surgery, or regenerative surgery. If you have deep pockets that are not cleansable, pocket reduction surgery may be recommended. This dental service involves gently pushing back the gum tissue around the teeth, removing the disease-causing bacteria, and securing the gum tissue back into place.

In some instances, bone may have been damaged due to the gum disease, and it will be smoothed to limit the areas where the bacteria can hide. This allows your gum tissue to better attach to the healthy bone. Another surgical procedure used to treat gum disease involves regenerating lost bone. Periodontal disease destroys supporting bone around the teeth.

Crown Lengthening
You may need a crown lengthening procedure to enable a filling or a crown to fit properly. Sometimes, teeth are decayed below the gum line or are too short for a crown to be predictably placed. Crown lengthening will adjust the level of the gum and bone to expose more tooth, so it can be restored.

Treatment of a Gummy Smile
Some people appear to have short teeth when they smile. Often, the teeth are the proper length, but they are covered with too much gum tissue. Out dental services include a surgical sculpting procedure in which we remove this excess gum tissue to expose more of the natural tooth. This can be done to one tooth in order to even the gum line, or it can be done to several teeth to create a natural-looking smile.

IV & Oral Conscious Sedation
While you are being treated in our office, we want you to be as comfortable as possible. As a result, we offer sedation to our patients. This involves administering medicines through an IV or orally that induce a state of deep relaxation and a feeling of not being bothered by what is going on around you. Also, these drugs produce a partial or complete memory loss for the duration of the procedure. This means that you won't remember much of the procedure, if anything at all.
